NEW CHAMPION: Lee Moriarty wins IWTV Independent Wrestling Championship
Lee Moriarty is the new IWTV Independent Wrestling Champion.
"The apex of combat" ended the record-shattering, 500-plus day reign of the now former champion, WARHORSE, in Hanceville, Alabama at New South's 2021 HOSS Tournament Night 2 on Saturday, March 6.
Moriarty earned his championship opportunity by virtue of winning The Masked Wrestler: Tournament Of Mystery, where he competed as the pink-hooded, Genkai defeating Logan Easton Laroux (Barf), Joshua Bishop (Skid) and Wheeler Yuta (Wyldkat) to earn his status as the "mystery opponent." For months after his Masked Wrestler victory, Genkai's identity remained a secret and was only revealed moments before his championship match began on Saturday night.
Widely touted by fans and other wrestlers as "the best wrestler in North America," Moriarty's victory was met with shocked excitement on social media and received a standing ovation in Hanceville.
Moriarty becomes just the seventh IWTV Independent Wrestling Champion in history, joining Jonathan Gresham, Tracy Williams, Orange Cassidy (2x), Kris Statlander, Erick Stevens and WARHORSE.
