Wrestling Open returns to White Eagle for 200th Episode
Wrestling Open Celebrates 200th Consecutive Thursday Night Event — Streaming Live on IWTV October 30 from the White Eagle in Worcester, MA
Wrestling Open reaches a major milestone this week as it presents its 200th consecutive Thursday night event, streaming live on IndependentWrestling.TV (IWTV) on Thursday, October 30 from the White Eagle in Worcester, Massachusetts.
This special occasion marks Wrestling Open’s return to the White Eagle, the beloved venue where the brand began, following a nine-month run of shows at Electric Haze.
Founded in January 2022, Wrestling Open began as an “open mic” night for independent wrestlers looking to establish themselves and gain valuable ring experience. Over time, the concept evolved into a cornerstone of the independent wrestling scene.
“Rivalries naturally developed from the initial series of exhibition matches and that completely changed the nature of the program,” explained Beyond Wrestling and Wrestling Open promoter Drew Cordeiro. “The wrestlers still sign up to compete each week, but now they are incentivized by the special relationship they've built with the fans since there's a lot more at stake.”
Regarding the move back to the White Eagle, Cordeiro added:
“Honestly it's bittersweet since I really loved being at Electric Haze, too. I wish we could run two weekly shows in both spaces. We're fortunate that our fans in Worcester will follow us no matter where we go, but the size of the room at White Eagle can better accommodate larger crowds — and the bigger our audience, the more people we get to share our passion with.”
The White Eagle has hosted hundreds of wrestling events and classic matches over the years, including seasons of Beyond Wrestling's Uncharted Territory, World championship bouts, multi-day "Wrestival" wrestling festivals and Steel Cage Warfare matches. The venue and stars of Wrestling Open were also featured in the music video for Clairo's hit single Juna.
